Solsiden
del Giglio, Bibi Graetz, Toscana
Solsiden
del Giglio is produced by Bibi Graetz with Ansonica grapes from Isola
del Giglio in the southern corner of Toscan Archipelago.
Ansonica is one of the white grapes that, with increasing attention,
will stand on it's own feet in Toscany.
From Grosseto to
Monte Argentario is the perfect land for Ansonica grape. Ansonica
is specially linked to the seaside areas and the islands: Elba, Giglio,
Sardinia and Sicily, where it's known as Inzuliao. Ansonica has a
tradition and is now promoted with encouraging results by a growing
number of small scale producers along the Argentario coast. In Giglio
Island. Ansonoco, as the grapes is called locally, stand on small terraces
with a sheer drop down to the sea, still dotted with stone wall builduings,
the Palmenti, buildt by the islanders between sixteenth and seventeeth
century and intended for grape pressing which took place on site due
to transport problems.
There has been a
guideline in place since 1995, which, having recognised the history
and the uniqueness of the wine and vine, established the DOC Ansonica
Costa de l'Argentario, enforcing the use of no less than 80% Ansonica
grapes in production.
Solsiden del Giglio
is 100% Ansonica grapes from Isola del Giglio. It goes wonderfully
with shellfish and seafood; a crisp wine with delicate aromas that recall
flowers and citrus fruit, with a light body, it is perfect with fish
throughout the meal.....

The Isola del Giglio lies cradled by warm sea in the southern corner
of the Toscan Archipelago.

Mild climate, unspoilt nature and crystal clear, emerald coloured water
offers perfect condition for this Giglio wineyard.
